Toy Design: Play and the Act of Play is an assignment that required me to create a toy based on my assigned body part which was my arm. This assignment is the hardest among all the other assignments that I have done so far, and it truly had pushed me to the limits in terms of brainstorming and prototyping. As this required me to physically create something using materials that are recyclable and that could be found in my house, I am limited in what I could potentially create. In addition, there is not a lot of ideas that I could think of when it comes to my assigned body part: arm. This poses a great challenge for me and even with the concept of design thinking it took me a lot of brainstorming to come up with at least 3 ideations, which were required by the assignment brief. After I finished prototyping, I was also required to make a video showcasing my created toy. This was also a challenge for me as I have no experience in video editing and my only partner to help shoot the videos was my mom at the time. After many trials and errors, I managed to complete my toy project, albeit I feel that many areas still need a lot of improvement such as my video and ideation stage. Nevertheless, I have at least completed this assignment, which is enough to make myself proud as this required me to do a lot of hands-on crafting to create my toy.
